Appeal - Save the Children, Senegal
As part of an already well established project being executed by Save the Children, Grifaid® and Save the Children are sending 216 Grifaid® Family Filters to Senegal. In the central regions of the country such as Fatick the likelihood that a child will die before the age of five is 66% compared to 54% at the national level. In these districts, children continue to suffer from preventable illnesses like diarrhoea, mainly due to poor hygiene and sanitation practices and limited access to clean water. In the island districts in particular, communities have difficulty desalinating their drinking water and so they collect unsafe drinking water from contaminated wells. Save the Children are providing both aid and training to combat these problems and this initial deployment of Grifaid® family filters will hopefully lead to a wider adoption of the technology if successful.
